The advancement of opthamalogy has been incredible over the last several years. As a result the LASIK Procedure is available to the masses. Epi Lasik
The original LASIK procedure used a cumbersome metal blade. This came with some inherit risks. Epi LASIK, on the other hand, utilizes a very fine plastic surgical blade. IntraLase

IntraLasik can also remove the possibility of human error. On the contrary, some software errors can be a possibility. Light sensitivity has been a result in some patients. And much like new technology, Intralase does come at a price premium.

Custom LASIK
Custom LASIK has become the hot new LASIK procedure. This is for a number of reasons. The ability to due eye procedures that were not possible with other procedures is one. The other is the accuracy. Custom LASIK, also called wavefront LASIK, draws a three dimensional map of the entire eye. The results are plugged into the wavefront software. This mapping allows for a less evasive and accurate Custom LASIK procedure. But, just like IntraLase, the costs are substantially higher than traditional methods.
